RUE DE BAC

Designed as a pied-à-terre for a French-American couple who frequently travels to Europe, this 1,300-square-foot apartment in Paris’ 7eme arrondissement was thoughtfully reimagined by JHID Paris.

The apartment, in a historically important building originally built to house Louis XIV’s musketeers, had recently undergone a generic renovation intended for resale—one that had stripped the apartment entirely of any original character. We approached the project with the client’s directive of bringing warmth and personality to the space without any major changes to the interior architecture.

Early in the design process, the team discovered a painting online of one of the musketeers, rendered in a muted palette of warm and cool grays, accented with black, caramel, and vibrant orange-reds. This painting became the conceptual anchor for the project, influencing the color story and the overall tone of the interiors. We did search for the original (sadly without luck), as it would have been a wonderful addition to the apartment.
